The AquaSYNC supported synthesis working group selected from proposal submitted to the International Synthesis Call 2025 has been selected:
Climatic effects on ecological synchrony and stability in Arctic and sub-Arctic freshwater systems
The SWG will be chaired by Francesca Pilotto (Norwegian Institute for Nature Research, NINA)
The focus of the SWG will be:
"Ecological synchrony influences community stability and population persistence. Climate change is likely to alter synchrony, especially in freshwater systems at high latitudes. Predicting these effects is challenging due to limited long-term data, but cyclic climate patterns like North Atlantic and Pacific Decadal Oscillation (NAO, PDO) provide proxies of future conditions. Responses to such oscillations can reveal how synchrony and stability may evolve under climate change."
This SWG brings together international experts to uncover how climate-driven patterns could reshape northern freshwater ecosystems.

Really interesting announcement shared here. The formation of a new Synthesis Working Group highlights how collaborative research and structured dialogue can help bring fresh perspectives to complex economic and investment challenges. It also reflects the growing importance of interdisciplinary thinking when addressing long-term market and policy questions. This topic connects well with ideas explored in a think tank workshop for institutional investors seminar & course in Copenhagen, Denmark, where professionals focus on collective intelligence, strategic insight development, and evidence-based decision-making for institutional investment strategies.
